Intellectual Disabilities
It is an unfortunate myth that people with intellectual disabilities cannot benefit from traditional psychotherapy. That would be as absurd as saying people who cannot perform trigonometry cannot benefit from counseling. A trained therapist can meet all people where they are at cognitively and emotionally. People with intellectual disabilities do not all have the same type or degree of vulnerability. Part of our approach is to combine executive function assessment with good old fashioned person directed therapy.
